Nina Caslavka

Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant. Psychiatric Social Worker. Behavior Specialist. Mother.

Hi! My name is Nina and I want you to know that I KNOW parenting isn’t easy. I’ve been in your shoes, stuck in the endless short-nap cycle, feeling the dread of multiple wakings and early morning roll calls. Having a “bad sleeper” can suck all the joy out of parenting. But it doesn’t have to be that way. The good news is that you’ve already made some progress just by reaching out for some advice because you know there is a better way.

Prior to having my first child, I was a Psychiatric Social Worker and Behavioral Interventionist who specialized in all aspects of child behaviors, birth through adolescence. Even though I was considered an “expert” in the field, I had no idea how hard newborn sleep needs were going to be and how hard sleep deprivation was on my body and mind. Maternal health care system does its best to prepare you for labor, breastfeeding and swaddling but they spend no time at all educating us on baby sleep. After my son was born, I quickly realized that (cruel fallacy of) no baby “sleeps like a baby.” And with my son’s birth was born my obsession with sleep science! My goal is to help as many families get back on track to better sleep hygiene and mental health.

“I want to solve your sleep problems. I want to make parenting your little one joyful againeven at bedtime.”

My Approach

R

Respectful

I believe that babies, toddlers and children of all ages are “whole beings” and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, same as us adults.  My philosophy is to communicate to them in a respectful way, while also helping to set boundaries and sleep parameters which lead to feelings of safety and health.
R

Holistic

I evaluate each family I work with using a holistic model.  Together we will determine the best path and we will walk that path together.

R

Rooted in Science

You won’t have to guess or Google anymore. I will create a schedule, routine and rhythm for you that is developmentally and biologically attuned with your child.
